Experience

I have been taking photographs since I got my first Fisher-Price camera when I was 7. If you know anything about photography, it took 110 film and had burn out flash bulbs.
I probably took this picture with that camera.
I have a very patient dad. He would buy me film and flash bulbs, develop my film, and then sit down with me and give me pointers on how to improve my photography.

I think I snagged this one around the time of Jr. High

I continued to take photos. I then took a photography class in High School. I remember my teacher pulling my first photo out of the chemicals. She had taught my older brothers photography also. When she pulled it out, she said, "photography must be in your blood." I have looked back on that photo--it isn't anything special, yet that was all it took for me to be confident and to fall in love with photography. I was on Year book in high school and college. This was back when you rolled your own film, developed it, made contact sheets, and then developed it. Sometimes I miss the darkroom--then again lightroom (the photo processing program I use.)is a lot less messy! I continued my photography education in college, taking as many classes as a non-art major could. In 2004 I moved (back) to Utah to start a photography business with my friend (and MTC companion for those familiar with the LDS faith.)We started Aya Photography. Where I made the switch to digital.

Heather is still Aya photography and an amazing and talented photographer. I decided to get out of doing it full time when I was pregnant with my oldest child.

I have continued to do photos by word of mouth. It is one of the loves of my life.
